Looks like there's not going to be a Porsche Carrera Cup for 2009, stupid financial crisis.

This had to be the best support class for the V8s period, it was a mile better than the Fujitsu series, and rumour has it the Fujitsu series might be in some trouble this year as well.

Basically they didn't get enough entries for the Carrera Cup series. Sigh.

Looks like V8 Stupidcars (Hey, I don't mind watching it, but it's not my cup of tea) is going to be the only game in town this year. Very disappointing.

Hi Rob,

It seems there is a lot of belt tightening going on at the moment. Perhaps this is an oppurtunity for the TV stations to focus on the private entry racing much like it did in the eighties and nineties??

Well Toyota pulled out of ARC as well, so god only knows where the ARC is going to end up.. I suspect buried away in the forest somewhere.

You'll have to forgive me, I was far too young in the 80s and the early 90s, I tend not to have paid attention to motorsport... What private entry racing were they focusing on? Like sprint days etc at tracks and that kind of thing, or something else entirely.

Cheers,

Rob
