SEQSCC June results

Post by wixwacing »

A very healthy thirteen racers were available fore slotcar mayhem on the night of June 1st. As always a myriad of classes and a single heat to prove yourself. As well as some good driving there were some spectacular marshalling attempts and a variety of models which left the mind boggling!

First up was Formula one. A good cross section of models with Scaley being the preferred weapon of choice

Race 1 Formula 1 20 laps
Heat 1
Position Driver Best lap time (secs)

1. Adrian 20.15
2. Phil 21.11
3. Bill 22.51
4. Sean 23.57

Heat 2

1. Julian 22.51
2. Paul 21.38
3. Gary 24.05
4. Peter 23.88

Heat 3

1. Ken 23.31
2. Tim 25.39
3. Mick 26.07
4. Mark G. 24.55

I managed to jump the start lights in my heat and spent the rest of the race catching up. Julian restored the smile to Marks face by taking out heat two and restoring the credibility of the SEQSCC!

A flooded carpark meant that Sir Joh had to be carried in by some obliging tennis players.

Next up was class ‘Fiat Abarth. These are the SCX models out of the box, although some were more ‘out of the box’ than others!!

Race 2 Fiat Abarth 7 laps

Heat 1

1. Sean 27.19
2. Peter 28.42
3. Ken 28.69
4. Bill 28.40

Heat 2

1. Gary 24.82
2. Julian 27.55
3. Phil 26.25
4. Tim 31.87

Heat 3

1. Adrian 25.23
2. Paul 27.44
3. Mick 25.29
4. Mark G 33.86
Heat one saw young Sean trounce the opposition in a steady drive by beating experienced racers,………and Bill!, well done Sean. Newcomer Tim struggled badly in his heat only to find his car had been knobbled!

Dear Leader Kim Jong Ill hollers for a marshal.

Next up was a test of nerves. Ninco Pro Trucks and all their inherent instability, no matter!
Race 3 Ninco Pro Trucks 10 laps

Heat 1

1. Bill 31.55
2. Tim 32.24
3. Mark G. 31.24
4. Ken 32.23

Heat 2

1. Gary 28.40
2. Adrian 29.59
3. Paul 29.45
4. Peter 33.56

Heat 3

1. Phil 27.00
2. Julian 31.31
3. Mick 32.54
4. Sean 28.15

Deviousness was afoot as Bill used every trick in the book to out maneuver the newcomers!! I eventually showed my true worth not only coming in first, but outsmarting some slight of hand work in my lane on one of the less visible parts of the circuit (and there’s plenty of those!!)

Boris Yeltsin celebrates his win in the Pro Truck race over Bill.

Race four was designated LMP and it was an opportunity to race some otherwise un run models. It would have been easy to place a Fly Lola or similar on the track, but that wasn’t in the spirit of the racing, so we experimented a bit.

Race 4 LMP 17 laps

Heat 1

1. Ken 22.75
2. Gary 23.08
3. Peter 22.72
4. Phil 24.40

Heat 2

1. Bill 20.97
2. Tim 21.95
3. Mick 21.64
4. Julian 25.39

Heat 3

1. Mark G 20.57
2. Adrian 21.74
3. Sean 22.61
4. Paul (DNF) 22.06

My race came undone art the green light. The Pro Turbo’d SCX Cadillac dragged it’s a**e the entire race and came in after the last race!! Julian took the SEQSCC back to earth with a strong finish last in his heat and Mark G struck a blow for the rookies in the face of experienced opposition!! Well done Mark.

Shrek was well pleased in finishing second behind Phil in the LMP race.

With two or three heading for the long journey home, the remaining racers indulged in one of the nicer pre downforce Scaley models. This is the Jaguar XJ 220. Good tyres are a prerequisite for these models.

Race 5 Jaguar XJ220 5 Laps

Heat 1

1. Mick 35.56
2. Ken 34.96
3. Julian 38.38
4. Sean 34.71

Heat 2

1. Adrian 35.99
2. Gary 33.25
3. Tim 39.53
4. Mark G. 37.93

Heat 3

1. Ken 35.09
2. Peter 35.57
3. Mark G. 34.34
4. Tim 38.81
Some good results here with some deserving wins. Mick pulled off a first heat win, the lap times (in seconds) tell how hard this class is. And Ken took the laurels in the last heat. Ken cops a lot of flack sometimes but this result vindicates his ability.

The night ended badly when Gazza, (Paul Gascoigne) was taken away for questioning concerning the addition of an extra magnet to his MG Lola.

So that was it for another month. If you would like to be on the SEQSCC invitation list, pm me this board or email me at pwix@yahoo.com See you soon!

When I'm not racing slotcars,
I'm out in the back yard, burning food!!

When I win, it's because of my talent, not my car or my controller!
