Slotcar Legends Racing - February

Post by wixwacing »

G'day all

The Slotcar Legends round for February will be at John and Sue's place at Nerangba, on Saturday the 21st.

We will be starting a bit later than we have recently. Arrive 4.00 pm for racing to start at 6.00 pm. I have got the times right this time.

The classes are as follows

Race 1 Track owners choice LMP 1995 onwards

This is as it says and is for Le Mans prototypes designated P1, P2, P900, P600 etc and DOES NOT include GT prototypes . It is an open motor class so you have a couple of weeks to do your damndest! All other Legends guidelines apply. Check out
Le Mans Register

Race 2 Set Class Classic Trans Am

Once again a fixed motor class, 18,000 rpm at 12 v but from an experimental view I will allow Carrera and other Classic Trans Am models up to 1972 providing they have the stock motor and the chassis and body meet Legends guidelines. Please contact me if you need clarification.

Lastly

Race 3 Trophy Class Historic GP

As already discussed and raced. At this event you may run as much magnet as you can cram in the body!!!!

There will be Pizza in the break so bring an empty stomach with you too!!

See you there

Hey Phil,

I'm confused :?: :?: ..... in the register, 1996, the fastest P1 was a Porsche 935/76 which I thought was a GT class car, and the 936 was the prototype.....But I could be and probably am wrong.

I am verifying that these 935's are legal for the 21st.
Cheers

Hey Kev
I may be able to clear this up, the car was actually a TWR WSC95 or also known as a JOEST WSC95 , FLY Le Mans test set includes a navy blue WSC95, FLy also have a FAT turbo livery and a few others, it is an LMP or known then as a P1, it actually had the type 935 turbo charged flat 6 Porsche engine which was used in the 956.
TWR based the car on a XJR14 chassis, the body was similar with modification to have cockpit and roof removed, altered rear end and wing, side air intakes for the turbos. Porsche eventually took over the project and used a GT1 98 3.2 ltr engine ( Also used in the Porsche 993 GT2 , pro-slot make them)which was reduced to 3.0 l for the Porsche LMP-98 with their own chassis devolpment (WSC95) here is a pic.

I also noted that one year the Bentley EXP SPeed 8 was a GT Prototype and then went onto the LMP900 class a year later.
hope this suits you sir!

please correct me Phil if i am wrong, i don`t believe it is.
As a `general` rule most LMPs don`t have a roof - bar a few like the Peugeot 908 and Bentley EXP speed8 to name only 2.

That seems to be the case Jordan, Imight see if I can track down the regs for each class.

Bill, The Marcos is a GT class but if that's all you have, no one is going to stop you racing it
