South East Queensland local racing

Post by wixwacing »

Slotcar racing in South East Queensland is again on the resurgence with more and more people getting in the slot. The main attraction surely must be the realism and diversity of models available followed by the competetive closeness of the racing. There are currently three main groups in the region which enjoy a good turnout at meetings and a diverse range of venues, from tortuous short circuits to fast and flowing race tracks, board and plastic!

So, if you are new or old to this hobby and have either rekindled an old passion or are new to the area give me a call on (07) 3822 7003, email me at pwix@yahoo.com or pm me on this board and we will find your nearest track and club

CLUBS

Q32 - A race group who specialise in 1/32 out of the box classes and race a mixture of wooden and plastic four laned tracks from Buderim to the city. All tracks use a computer based race management program.

Slotcar Legends - Similar to Q32 but with a slightly more 'avant garde' approach to classes on the same circuits.

SEQSCC - Based at Graceville in the inner western suburbs. This is a completely 'off the wall' race group headed by Julian and Mark. where such classes as the 'Ridiculously oversized slotcar challenge' are raced along side more regular classes like 'VeeDub Kombis' and 'Caterhams' to name a few! Their track is a seventy metre plus four laned Scalextric sport layout which consumes the entire interior of the building it is in!! It has to be seen to be believed.

Logan City Speedway - A small eclectic group on Brisbane's Southside with a four lane Ferrodor and magnabraid board track at Logan City and a huge four lane Carrera track at Eagleby. Racing a good cross section of Classes with Aussie V8's and Modern Nascars being the more popular.

The 'Red Team' - The Red Team race at a private venue at the southern bayside suburb of Alexander Hills. A small but eclectic group who focus on a list of classic slotcars from both SCX and Scalextric. Ninco NC1's also have their place on the card. Rally is a favourite class along side SCX pre magnet F1's and Scaley BTCC's. At this venue there is a chance to race all the classic 1/32 scale slotcars. The main track is a twenty one metre sweeping two laned board circuit with computer based race management. The track is fully landscaped and we often run nightime classes using track and car lights only. There is also a superb single laned hill climb with reverse polarity switches on the top and bottom loops.

There are other groups too who specialise in plafit and other classes but they tend to be a bit insular. They are out there non the less and these groups make up what is a rounded representation of slotcar racing in South East Queensland.

If you would like more information about any of these groups, don't hesitate to contact me on this board, or email me at pwix@yahoo.com.

When I'm not racing slotcars,
I'm out in the back yard, burning food!!

When I win, it's because of my talent, not my car or my controller!
