Racing at the ‘Ville, as usual, was chaos and mayhem. Unfortunately I only have some of the results but will post them anyway. First up was Scaley minis, this was exclusively populated by the BMW minis and they do actually drive quite well if you have the nerve to push the, unfortunately some racers spent too much time pushing their(and others) models off the track!!
You ain’t seem me, right!
Event 1 Scaley Minis 15 laps Race 1 Position Driver Best lap (secs) 1. Peter H 27.10 2. Lewis 30.96 3. Mick 32.67 4. Noel 17.17 ( I think not!) Race 2 1. Andrew 24.90 2. Ken 28.90 3. PJ 29.40 4. ‘Elvis’ 36.62 Race 3 1. Phil 28.37 2. Peter S 28.50 3. Bill (the Legend) 32.67 4. Lewis 32.84
Next event was for any model in Gulf Oil livery. There was a feisty little SEAT 850 mixing it with the big boys, and of course some GT40’s. But the model that was always going to win was the Audi R8 in pale blue and orange!! Thankfully it was over four laps only, but that’s still more than two minutes racing for most of the contenders!!! I raced an eloquent Ferrari 360 in Gulf livery with an NC1 and no traction magnet. I lead for most of the heat but eventually came in second behind Noel.
Event 2 Gulf Oil Livery 4 laps Race 4 1. Mick 25.98 2. Peter H 26.62 3. Elvis 34.78 4. Ken 35.59 Race 5. 1. Noel 31.45 2. Phil; 32.48 3. PJ 31.57 4. Peter S 35.06 Race 6 1. Mick 26.01 2. Andrew 31.73 3. Lewis 33.32 4. Bill 36.65
Next event was the SCCA Muscle cars, Camaros and Mustangs a plenty. There was a deviation from the format for this race and we were to run for a fixed seven minute period! Being fairly quick cars it was expected for them to cover a bit of ground. Some did.... others..... well; the lap times say it all, they know who they are!!
Event 3 Muscle cars 7 minutes Race 7. Laps 1. Peter H 16 2. Phil 14 3. PJ 13 4. Peter S 11 Race 8 1. Andrew 14 2. Mick 14 3. Elvis 10 4. Noel 10 Race 9 1. Ken 15 2. Bill 15 3. John 12 4. Lewis 10
Next up was a bit of a re run for some. LMP’s were the order and a motley selection made its way to the start line, but best performer had to be a Gulf Oil livery model from a previous incarnation ? I ran a modified Carrera Bentley and although I lead my heat for the most part, the model was too bogged down by its traction magnet. Back to the drawing board!!
The Red Team took the opportunity to turn up in strength.
Event 4. LMP 25 laps Race 10 1. Mick 25.95 2. Elvis 18.23 (???) 3. Lewis 30.45 4. Noel 32.93 Race 11 1. Peter H 22.71 2. Phil 23.67 3. Ken 27.81 4. Bill 26.18 Race 12 1. Julian 25.67 2. PJ 26.84 3. Peter S 25.93 4. Andrew 29.95
Another great evenings racing and no one driver dominating the proceedings. If you live in Brisbane and would like to come along to a monthly SEQSCC race evening, email me at pwix@yahoo.com or PM me this board.
