Being a yank, I spell it tire in the following article: http://home.fuse.net/SCJ/TireSander/tiretruer.html

This does a great job - much better than the traditional methods.

Hi Dan

I see you describe it as an 'oscillating' sander? does it oscillate or does it spin? if so what speeds are available?

The spindle moves up and down as it rotates at 1 speed (?). This is a woodshaping tool that I use quite often. The speed for our purposes is controlled by the diameter of the drum on the sander. I use the smallest drum as that makes the wheels spin at the lowest speed. If you want more speed change the spindle to a larger size.

The bottom of the line sander took a jump in price of about 40% when their competitor dropped out of the market.

I followed Dan's plan, and I can tell you, this idea is a beaut. Think of it- perfectly trued tires in seconds, completely in control at all times.
