Re: Scale model nationals

Hi Egg Thats great , sounds like a stress free trip . Cost would work out similar at $300 a head travel . Just depends on weather you feel like driving or flying . I think you would get there fresher buy flying , driving just has a certain sense of adventure about it . Either way I don't mind , I'll...

Re: Scale model nationals

Hi Phil

Very good point . The other bitter pill is that they are running qualifying heats with only the fastest progressing . Definatley makes it hard to travel the distance for what could possibly be 12mins of racing . We'll have to see how it progresses .

Re: Scale model nationals

Now that's an idea , I'll tow the bike and do a track day ................. Just kidding Sounds good Jord but it adds 2 more days travel , 2 more night accomodation and meals , 2 less days earning money .... the cost starts to blow out . Melbourne is so far away . I haven't looked at the cost of fly...

Scale model nationals

Hi Guys (if I could find a slot car girl I'd marry her ! ) I have noticed that the southern states are organising a Model Car National race meet at Hornsby Slot Cars in August . Now I don't know exactly where that is apart from somewhere outside of Sydney. Please correct me if I am wrong . However ,...

Brass chassis Biulding

Hi guys I plan to have a crack at a couple of brass chassis builds over the next few weeks and I guess I need some usefull tips on soldering technique . I had a go a little while ago with standard soldering iron and found it quite frustrating . Am thinking maybe a little butane torch would be the go...

Glue and true baby , glue and true !!!

Howdy Have you ever disregarded advice only to find much later that it makes a bigger difference than you thought ? Recently I attended a local race night at one of our club members tracks ( Ninco Magnet ) and was suprised to find I was having one of those magic nights where your cars seem to be run...

Re: Mount Ommaney

Hi there From memory it is 3.6m x 4.8m long. Next time around I would probably delete a few corners just to shorten up the lap length and speed the circuit up a bit , but overall I think most of the guys enjoy driving on it . I would probably make it a bit less than 3.6 wide also just to help with m...

Re: Video

Absolutley stunning footage , if only slot cars were that dynamic . After seeing footage like that I can understand why hobby guys choose Remote control cars . Braking , sliding , wheel spinning , jumps , dirt flying , just fantastic !!!!!

Re: New cars from Ninco

Denny denny deny The boys here are certainly serious racers , most have competed on comercial tracks and won in one class or another . However Commercial tracks are only one side or a small part of the hobby ( some jokers call it a sport ) and many people also prefer to race in a club style envirome...

Chevron Chronicles

Howdy

I came across this site a little while ago and found it quite interesting . I like Chevrons so I enjoyed reading about the life of cars as they are pasted around . Worth a look http://www.oldracingcars.com/chevron/b19/

I was suprised at how extensive it is .

Re: FLY 908/3

OK , now we can move forward . There's good news and then I have some bad news . We'll get the bad news out of the way first . In my opinion the porche chassis is best as a magnet racer .The reason I say this is because it is a 2 piece chassis that breaks in the middle which is great for loosening s...

Re: FLY 908/3

Howdy We need a bit more info mate. What type of track are you running , plastic/board , magnet/non-mag , track size and length ? I have a few 908's which have a similar chassis to 917 , and depending on the type of track you want to run them on it will depend on how you set them up . Cover the basi...
