Re: New from MJK

I had no idea you folks had Valiants. Did they have the same Slant Six engine that ours did? And the push button transmission selection?

Re: Absaflamingobsmackin'!

I should mention that Derby City is a slang term for Louisville, where the Kentucky Derby is run at Churchill Downs. Mark is an incredible modeler, and has posted some of the best cars on HRW. He is one of the hosts of a legendary slot car meet in Louisville called Derby City Shootout, a huge cookou...

Re: Get another 2G from your SCX RX motors

Hello again, guys. Things got pretty busy around here for a while, and I am just now back in the saddle. I think I have the idea now. If I understand it properly, the trick is to hold the square tube brush holder and skew it, rather than twist the entire endbell to achieve the same result. Is that i...

Re: Get another 2G from your SCX RX motors

I've read about this several times, and I have yet to see an article that includes photos. Can someone take a picture and identify what we're talking about? I think I understand it, since I have several adjustable "Rotor Motor" cars, but they are just way too much power, and the SCX idea l...

That's ridiculous. A fool and his money have been separated.

Re: Scalextric Dodge Viper

I'm in the curious position of answering my own post. I found out what has been wrong with my Viper that was bought a couple of years ago. The coupling between the motor shaft and the drive shaft was rubbing the interior. Now, both Vipers run great. Funny I never could find it before, and assumed it...

Re: Q32 October race meet, results

It shouldn't surprise me anymore how alike we all are. Your group looks a lot like our group, and my metal building looks a lot like yours. I have my beer refrigerators on the front wall near the overhead door, too.

Re: Around the tracks

Yessir, and there's only one scratch on a door handle. These cars are a lot tougher than they look. Those lights are so fragile, maybe I was protective of them, but I did bang into the rear of a Carrera Roadrunner once during the day and there were no ill effects. The track we were on is around 93 f...

Re: Around the tracks

I have this one and its gray partner, and I have been very pleased on mag track and on wood. With the tiny rears I thought I might find a traction problem, but such is not the case. It behaves very well, and actually keeps up with the Carrera and Mongram NASCAR's that were on the track at the same t...

Re: Scalextric Dodge Viper

I have had a Scaley Viper for a couple of years, and found that right from the box, the balance was iffy, and it was unpredictable in the turns. In spite of that, I bought another one last week, and ran it hard this weekend on a plastic track of considerable size and complexity. It's GOLDEN! I'm goi...

Re: Weird, who...me!!!

I suppose there's one in every group. I'm the one for us, I guess. I once built an 1958 Edsel NASCAR. I'll post a photo one of these days. I race-tuned aPinkCar 2CV. That was amazingly stomach-wrenching to see.

Re: MJK Local content bodies

I'm chasing them down now. Thanks so much. I hope to make two for myself, run them at our next gathering and see if I can arrange a bit of a race category. We discovered motors intended for robotics that are wonderfully suited for slot cars. Everyone has been experimenting on chassis arrangements an...

Re: MJK Local content bodies

The FJ is the one that grabbed my attention. I don't know about Down Under, but its very hard to find interesting 1/32 bodies to scratch build a chassis for here in the States. Once in a while, I find 1/32 scale plastic models, but they are seldom the kind of thing I'm looking for, and so many of th...

Re: BRM wheels and tyres

I have a few sets of these and the sister product wheels, and they are remarkable. Very solidly built, too. I would be afraid to race them at all.
